Why convert WebP to JPG

WebP is great for websites, but it still trips up older software: some photo editors, printers, social uploaders and legacy apps expect JPG and refuse WebP. Converting to JPG makes the image work everywhere, with no compatibility surprises.

JPG is the lowest-common-denominator image format — if a tool accepts images at all, it accepts JPG. That makes this the quickest fix when a WebP download simply won't open where you need it.

How to convert WebP to JPG

Add your WebP files above, keep the output on JPG, set the quality slider if you want, and download. Whole folders and batches of up to 100 files work in one go.

Note that JPG has no transparency: if the WebP had a transparent background, those areas become white in the JPG. For anything that needs transparency, convert to PNG instead.

Frequently asked questions

Why won't some apps open WebP?

WebP is a newer format; older software and some photo tools still expect JPG or PNG. Converting to JPG makes the image universally compatible.

Will I lose quality?

Both WebP and JPG are lossy, so re-encoding at high quality (90+) keeps the difference invisible. Very low quality settings will show some softening, as with any JPG.

What happens to a transparent WebP?

JPG can't store transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white. Convert to PNG if you need to keep the transparency.

Is it private?

Yes — the conversion runs entirely in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
