About ConvertCanvas
Last updated: July 2026
ConvertCanvas is a free, privacy-first image converter that runs entirely in your web browser. It converts HEIC, JPG, PNG and WebP images on your own device using WebAssembly, so your photos are never uploaded to any server. There is no signup, no watermark and no file-size paywall.
Why we built it
Most "free online converters" upload your personal photos to a server you don't control, convert them there, and hope you don't read the fine print about what happens to the copies. We thought that was backwards. Modern browsers are powerful enough to do the conversion locally — so we built a converter that never sees your images in the first place.
How we can promise your photos are never uploaded
The claim is verifiable, not marketing. Conversion runs through WebAssembly image codecs inside your browser tab. No image bytes are transmitted to us at any point. You can confirm this yourself in seconds:
- Open your browser's developer tools (press F12) and select the Network tab.
- Convert a photo on any ConvertCanvas page.
- Watch the requests — you'll see no image upload, only a tiny anonymous event log.
