Frequently asked questions
Why are my iPhone photos HEIC?
Since iOS 11, iPhones use HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) because it stores the same quality at roughly half the file size of JPG. The trade-off: many apps and websites still don't accept it.
Will I lose quality converting HEIC to JPG?
You control the quality slider (we default to 90). At 90+, the difference is invisible for typical photos. JPG files will usually be somewhat larger than the original HEIC at the same visual quality.
Are my photos uploaded to your server?
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser using WebAssembly. You can verify in your browser's developer tools: no image data appears in any network request.
